MR.Dev

Growing up in Bermuda, MR.Dev turned a shared family computer into the neighbourhood arcade. Friends would pull up a chair, crowd around the screen, and take turns on the keyboard. Years later, when he built his first game, he sent it to one of those friends. The reply came back a minute later. “Looks good. Won’t load on my phone, though.”

That weekend, he cracked open his old laptop and cast his first spell. He shrank the game until it could slip through a slow connection, then taught it to run on the oldest phone he could borrow. By Monday, his friend had beaten his high score.

Now known as Bermuda’s Cyber Wizard, MR.Dev is a tall, stocky developer with a scuffed laptop, a name badge, and a knack for getting magic out of old machines. He writes spells in code and turns ordinary web browsers into arcades. An older phone, a school tablet, or a hand-me-down laptop can be someone’s way into the worlds he builds.

His favourite trick is opening a game on a device someone swears is too old. When the title screen loads, he hands it back with a wink.

“Go on. Beat my score.”
Game Tester & Cyber Wizard’s Apprentice

Meet J1@B

J1@B is a young Bermudian gamer who tests every game MR.Dev builds. He’s the kid in the lightning-bolt shirt, leaning forward in his gaming chair with his tongue out when a level gets serious.

His favourite thing to do is try whatever the game doesn’t expect. He’ll jump at a wall that looks a little suspicious, hit buttons during a loading screen, or see what happens when he takes the long way around a boss. When something breaks, he shows MR.Dev exactly how he did it and helps test the fix.

J1@B always brings his old tablet to the lair. He checks whether the game loads quickly, whether the buttons feel right on a small screen, and whether he can figure out what to do without MR.Dev giving him hints. His verdict is easy to spot. If he’s still in the chair asking for “one more round,” the game has passed the J1@B Test.
